This week we celebrate NAIDOC Week from 3rd to the 10th July.
NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. This year’s theme ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’ calls for systemic change and to keep rallying around our mob, our Elders, our communities. Whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism—we must do it together. It must be a genuine commitment by all of us to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! and support and secure institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative reforms.
NAIDOC Week is an important celebration for Reachability Australia as we are committed to reconciliation, building strong, sustainable and mutually respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and ‘Closing the Gap’ in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ life expectancy.
